The SI-MET College of Nursing, Varkala was established in the year 2023. It is a unit of State Institute of Medical Education and Technology (SI-MET), a Govt of Kerala Undertaking. The initiative of the government was to increase the workforce of nursing personnel to meet the demand that arose globally due to the COVID - 19 pandemic.

The college is situated in the shrine village of Varkala located 4 Kms away from Varkala railway station and 2 kms from Varkala bus stand. The college is providing skillful clinical experience to the wards by attached with the parent hospital, Government Taluk hospital, Varkala and Government Taluk Hospital, Cheriyankeezhu which also render excellent service to the people.

The institution provides high quality undergraduate education in nursing to the students to prepare proficient nurses for global society.
