THE STATE INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY
(SI-MET)
The State Institute of Medical Education and Technology (SI-MET) , a prestigious project established in 2008 under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Kerala. We accentuate to enhance and highlight the medical and paramedical education in different streams of health viz. Modern Medicine, Allopathy, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Siddha and Unani. It also strives to strengthen the research activities in these fields.
This self-financing Institution is registered as a society under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955(Act XII of 1955) as Reg. No. T 899/08 with Thiruvananthapuram as headquarters.
The administrative control of the institution vests on a governing body with Minister for Health & Family Welfare as chairman and the secretary to health as vice chairman. The Ex-officio members are Secretary- Finance,Secretary-Planning,Director- State Mission NHM, Kerala, Vice- Chancellor-University of Kerala, Director of Medical Education, Director of Health services, Director of SI-MET, Director of Ayurveda Medical Education, Principal and Controlling Officer, Government Homeopathic Medical College and Joint Director of Nursing Education.
There are 11 Colleges of Nursing currently functioning under SIMET. In 2009, three colleges were established at Palluruthy, Malampuzha and Uduma. In 2015, the College of Nursing Muttathara, at Thiruvananthapuram District was started, which now functions at Pattor. During the year 2023, seven Colleges of Nursing were established under SIMET – Neyyattinkara, Varkala (Thiruvananthapuram Dist), Konni (Pathanamthitta Dist), Nooranad (Alappuzha Dist), Tanur (Malappuram Dist), Dharmadam, Thaliparamba (Kannur Dist). The institute plans to host various academic and research programmes in the field of Health and allied sciences under its management in the coming years.

Philosophy Of College Of Nursing
SI-MET College of Nursing believes that Nursing is a profession based on holistic concept of health care, towards identifying health needs of people, planning and providing high quality care in collaboration with health professionals & community groups.
We believe that the four year Bachelor of Science in Nursing conducted by Si-MET under Kerala University of Health Sciences will uplift the standard of Nursing profession and be able to work as a competent nurse administrator, nurse educator, nurse practitioner and nurse researcher in various health care setting.
Based on the National Health Policy 2022 and Kerala Vision 2010-2015 and the vision of former Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Government of Kerala has taken a special interest to start nursing colleges under SI-MET to strengthen nursing education and nursing services throughout Kerala. We abide to stand for fulfilment of their vision and to meet the health needs of people residing with us in our locality and our state at large.
